Conference on Information and Propaganda about Vietnam’s Maritime and Island Sovereignty
On the afternoon of October 2, at the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City State Investment and Finance Company (HFIC), the Company’s Party Committee held a conference on information and propaganda regarding Vietnam’s maritime and island sovereignty.
Attending the conference were 1,200 officials, Party members, and employees, participating both directly and online at 17 points of the Party’s affiliated units.
The conference received a briefing from Lieutenant General Phạm Văn Dỹ, former Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 7, on the legal basis and historical evidence of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos; the position and role of the seas and islands in the construction and defense of the country; and Vietnam’s legitimate and lawful rights and interests at sea under international law, including UNCLOS 1982.
Lieutenant General Phạm Văn Dỹ also emphasized the legality of Vietnam’s approach, its policy of resolving disputes through peaceful means, and the importance of garnering international support for Vietnam’s policies, positions, actions, and conduct regarding issues related to sovereignty in the East Sea.
The conference helped instill pride in the nation’s traditions and raised the awareness and responsibility of HFIC officials, Party members, and employees in participating in the protection of the country’s maritime sovereignty and continental shelf.
