Branch 2 of HFIC with a specialized session on “Exploring the tradition of national struggle in the resistance war against the U.S. at the ‘Pho Binh’ red base”
To strengthen the cohesion among Party members, propagate and educate Party members about the historical traditions of the resistance war against the U.S., the indomitable spirit of previous generations, and contribute to fostering patriotism and building the country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, on November 3, 2025, Branch 2 of HFIC organized the Q4 2025 specialized session: Exploring the tradition of national struggle in the resistance war against the U.S. at the “Pho Binh” red base.
The program was attended by Mr. Truong Tuan Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director of Ho Chi Minh City State Financial Investment Company (HFIC), Mr. Truong Huynh Anh – Secretary of Branch 2 HFIC, Head of the HFIC Supervisory Board, along with all Party members of the branch and outstanding cadres.

At the national historical site Quán Phở Bình (No. 7 Ly Chinh Thang Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Party members of the branch had the opportunity to visit and see artifacts and images firsthand, as well as hear Mr. Ngo Van Lap, son of Mr. Ngo Toai, the former owner of Pho Binh and a liaison for the F100 commando organization, directly recount the history of Pho Binh – a treasure trove of documents from the intense years of the resistance when it served as the forward command post of Subregion 6 during the Tet Offensive of 1968.

“…In preparation for the Tet Offensive of 1968, the Command of the Liberation Armed Forces of the South had plans to build secret infrastructure within the city to store weapons and cadres, as well as serve as forward command posts for meetings and information exchange before and during battles. Taking advantage of the geographical location, the townhouse at No. 7 Yen Do (now Ly Chinh Thang Street) was chosen as the forward command base. It was also the point to issue orders for attacks that surprised enemy forces, such as those at the U.S. Embassy and the Independence Palace. To deceive the enemy, soldiers in the commando unit acted as staff of the pho shop….”
On behalf of Branch 2 HFIC, Mr. Truong Huynh Anh expressed gratitude to Mr. Ngo Van Lap and his family, wishing them health and happiness, and success in managing and developing Pho Binh, which remains a meaningful site for future generations to connect with the heroic revolutionary history of their ancestors.
